Injectors for Maggie w/ Flex Fuel
#51
Thank TX tahoe!!! after reading this thread carefully a few times I didn't see anyone with vin Z flex fuel that was doing anything to the stock pump. So it looks like I can do fine with my stock pump.
As understand it from this thread, I will have to use the ford injectors with the uscar connectors. I think Doobie used them for a plug and it appears they fit perfect. I am only looking for 400hp and some more torque to get me up these colorado mountians.....Thanks very much for the help..................bob

I am using the same Ford injectors after Doobie's good experience with them, but I had Jon at Fuel Injector Connection enlarge them to 75# at 53.1psi (FF pressure) for $200 since I want to run E85 which needs a lot more fuel (needs 1.47x bigger injector for same hp level).
The injectors are definitely plug and play, and even idle smoother than stock. If you haven't invested in a good tune for your truck, that would be my starting point, and it will help your mpg. Wheatley, Nelson and Blackbear have their sponsor links on the right and do great work ====>

Warning to those intending to use these injectors in stock form!
So came across some threads about these Ford Racing GT500 injectors:
http://www.tbssowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39394
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14921
I talked to Jon at Fuel Injector Connection and he said they modify these injectors' spray patterns from 24 degrees (set up for the Ford 4V heads) to 6 degrees (for LS engines 2V heads). Otherwise wall-wetting occurs and wastes fuel. Jon has used these injectors in 10 or more 600hp+ LS setups and really likes these injectors, but be aware that in unmodified form, the spray pattern is set up for a 4V head so is much wider than desired for our heads.

I noticed that my truck ran smoother after install of these injectors in their stock form. My fuel mileage and AFR's are exactly the same as with stock FF injectors and I have 4k miles on them since install. I believe the injector is timed to open only when the intake valve is open so with air movement across the tip, I fail to see how there could be any puddling on the intake surface. Can a wider spray pattern be better for fuel atomization in this case? I'm certainly no expert on fuel spray patterns but I can only say that I have had very good results using these Ford injectors in my FF engine. They were simply a direct fit and cost effective upgrade from the stock FF injectors.

Something to keep in mind for those looking into running E85 with their flex fuel Tahoe/Suburban's. In HPT there is a table not yet available that you can't see and it will cause big problems with tuning. I have put in a request for it to be added and they informed me that it should be added in the near future. The table will add 16 degrees of timing at low rpm, 8 degrees up high, and down to 2.42 in the middle and only in full when ethanol content is over 80%.

I believe there is a separate E85 table in EFI live, but you're right, HPT does not have that capability yet. Good to hear they are working on it. Any word on when it will be released or a rough time frame?

Not sure. I'll send another e-mail to them this weekend to find out. I use Tunercat to fix this problem since I have unlimited credits through them to fix it and then finish the tunes with HPT. I'm trying to get a picture of the map posted up here to show the sample. Fortunatly on E85 you can run a crapload more timing and still be safe.
Here is a picture if I can get it to work.

Yeah, when Charlie tuned it in HPT, he just used the high octane table for e85. But yeah, I think my timing is at 35-37 at WOT, 41 at cruise, iirc. But he said he was going send HPT another email about adding an e85 table.

I need help sourcing some higher flow injectors for my 2010 6.2L FF. I have no info on the stock injectors as far as connector type, or length. I know that they show to flow about 50#/hr at 54psi but it's not enough for my truck. I'm running the Whipple 2.3L kit at 9psi and my DC is at 95%. Are the 6.2L FF injectors generally the same dimension and connector as the 5.3?
