Question I'm putting my turbo truck together and have questions...

Were are you putting:
EGT sensor
IAT sensor (or what are you using for 03 trucks)
Best place to buy 3bar map
What spark plugs (im assuming NGK TR6)
What are you gapping the plugs at (12-18psi)
How are you mounting the IC (99-02)

Im sure I will have more questions also...

If anyone is interested in my build it is in the project gallery section

Best place to buy 3bar map- gm

My EGT is 12" after the turbo flange on downpipe, my new KB kit will have the same location.
I use the screw in IAT from diyautotune
GM 3Barr map here
I run NGK TR7 non projected in my crewcab. My shortbed will prob run the same or the TR8 non projected.
.028 seems the best gap for 12lbs on my 6 liter
Follow Kyles advise/pics on the intercooler mounting.

I have my Pryo right before the flange on the log. That way I can see what the EGTs are right at the charger. I always like the idea of having the pryo pre-turbo.

IAT sensor as mentioned I got from diyautotuning with the bung and pigtail. I placed it where the EGR would go into the stock truck intake mani behind the throttle body. I have seen a few other people do that and its worked great. I used the EGR block off black and screwed the IAT sensor right into it.

I am also running TR6 but I forget the gap(I think .034).

Intercooler is hung where Kyle designed it to, just uses two bolts and one of the flat pieces of steel the run across the front of the truck.

I always run EGT PRE-turbo. I wanna know how hot the gas hitting the turbine wheel is.

Can somebody educate on why it is good to read EGT? If it gets too hot what do you do to fix it or vise versa.

It's old school tuning. Now a days we use WB o2's much more accurate way of tuning. On gas motors lower is rich and higher is lean. (diesels is opposite) To high of EGT for to long will literally melt the turbine wheel and the tips will fly off and destroy the turbo. On a gas motor, 1700* is HOT, upper 1500*'s is good for power, normal driving will be in the 12-1400*'s from everything I've seen.

Towing, you would want to keep a gas motor in the lower 1500's* max I would think.

Turbos will take quite a bit. I've seen diesels that will hit 2200* in a 1/4 pass, but that only for about 10 sec.

That's why those diesel guys can only go wot for a few seconds..

About egt. You see the big time blower guys run one on each cylinder and datalog to see which is lean/rich
