What are your IATs like with meth on a Radix?

Did a couple of runs(0 to top of 2nd at 5900 RPM) yesterday and didn't really see any cooling effect. Did see a drop in AFR though. Intercooler pump is working OK. Used a 50/50 mix.

Run 1-75*F ambient, 3.25 pulley- IAT climbed 31*F (91-122)

Run 2-60*F ambient, 2.75 pulley- IAT climbed 60*F (107-167)

 

I just did some runs for ya:
conditions
100deg F 30.00 baro 36% humidity

5.3L Radix 3.0 pulley
100% Meth Snow Performance MAF kit

Top of 2nd 6000RPM 10.6psi boost

Run 1-100*F ambient, 3.0 pulley- IAT climbed 33*F (120-153) 10.0psi boost

Run 2-100*F ambient, 3.0 pulley- IAT climbed 32*F (126-158) 10.2psi boost

Run 3-100*F ambient, 3.0 pulley- IAT climbed 38*F (122-160) 10.6psi boost

 

meth doesn't offer alot of cooling effect. pushes the kr threshold. get some more boost and timing out of the higher octane(for ease of explanation). The higher IAT's are less prone to knock due to the meth however, just don't know what that "magic" spot is. So meth is good, real good. You'd never be able to get the same timing and boost levels out of the same non-meth setup. Get a larger hxr. You'd be kickin *** then.

LBSBLOWN, no fair on the humidity, man, 36%...ugh. Your runs, how long? 0 to 100mph? 1/4? top of 3rd? 10 secs? Just curious as far as comparing goes. DOH, just read your sig, dual Hxr's.

 

I'd give you some numbers from my meth setup, but I don't want to make you cry lol j/k

 

Running on the 1/4 mile - 2.8" pulley 8-9psi ~85* ambient ----start 120, end of run 135*

On the dyno - 2.8 pulley 8-9psi 85-90* ambient ----start 120-end 140 (3rd gear pulls.


For comparo, I would start the 1/4 mile at 11X and end around 150 in 80* ambient. There was a difference. HOWEVER, the dyno told a different story when it came to bumping the timing. I got only a few * before hitting KR. Most people who run meth can get several *. I have only run 50/50 mix. I feel it has to do with spraying pre compressor on the Radix.

 

Seems that meth only provides octane boost and supplemental fueling on a Radix setup. There is limited to no charge cooling effect. I read that over 50% meth will actually result in higher IATs on any setup.

 

I had better cooling with 50/50 water/meth than with 100% water.

 

I made some runs at Indy with the same tune and my IAT run hotter with the alky on than with it off, I tried running 50 50 and it slowed me way down, I still play with the tune and keep trying the alky but can always run faster with the alky off, Knocks just as much with alky as it does without it, I hate to take it off after I paid that much for it and holdig out hope for it one day,

 

I have a switch that i wired in so i can turn the meth off (if i leave it on, i will use 5qts in one day) and i see my base temps lowered by 15* ...w/ 97 and high humidity ambiant, i usually have 130-135 IAT's under normal driving...but w/ the meth on it is usually about 120*...i'll do a few boosted lauches w/ and w/ out to post some more numbers.

 

wow, that really sucks. i was thinking about getting a METH setup, but now i don't know.
