well if you are willing to change your engine combo then you could always throw in a 6.0. you could also lose your shorty headers for some longtubes. get a dyno tune instead of your hand held. get a vinci torquer cam. different pully on your SC for more psi

what has already been said + a higher stall and even more gear because of the 36's. 8-10 psi boost and some meth/water injection.

are you intercooled...if not then the heat is killing your timing/power....either go intercooler or a meth/water kit to get your iat's down so it wont pull timing away from you when it gets too hi....

With all that has been said, i still want to stay with the 5.3. But i would like to do some engine work ie heads cam combo. Any suggestions on the upgrade and what kind and how much. Also is there alot of restriction on the stock cats? Is it worth upgrading them? I dont know where i want to start because i dont know alot of people that have done a hole lot to these motors. I see alot of you guys have, what is a good setup with what i have going now. Thanks alot for all the responses.

you could get a good cam the GT2-3 is recommended and widely used FI. the stock cats i wouldnt think are hurting you that bad but definitly intercool your monster. i wouldnt think you would need new heads but you could think about upgrading your intake manifold depending on your rpm shift point.

stall, meth + more boost, tuning

those 3 things would be your best bang for the buck right now.
