Question Hot Cam with FI?

Just wondering if you guys have any opinion on running the LS1 Hot cam with a FI application. Thinking of doing a turbo or blower on my truck. Also, any idea on which would be better for this cam between the two?

From what I've been told by others in the past (I also have the Hotcam) is that the low LSA of 112 will kill the torque curve on a FI application. It's better to have atleast 114, but most go 115-118. I know for a budget build, the stock LS6 cam works great, but the lingenfelter GT2-3 is a popular choice for those with a higher budget.

If you already have it in the truck, give it a go and see how you like it. Conventional wisdom isn't right 100% of the time. Maybe the wide LSA's aren't quite as critical when the cam is a little on the mild side. If you're doing a cam swap anyway, that's probably not my first choice....or second for that matter.

i also say that if its in there leave it alone. the reason they say go wide lsa is also to lower the over lap. with smaller duration like that there shouldn't be too much anyway. if i had it in there to begin with i'd run it you may find it does really well. its been said to make as much n/a power as you can then add boost. you will then get more power from less boost. but i wouldn't go out and buy it for turbo.

I ran the hotcam in my 4.8 when I was in school and NA. It was an affordable package and it does really well with N2O, which was the direction I was going to go. A good deal on a turbo kit came along, so I took it. I left the hotcam in there and I thought it did alright. That is until I found a good deal on an 02 z06 cam. I swapped cams and there was no looking back. I don't want to say it gave me more power/torque, but it gave me back the broad range power/torque the hotcam had taken away.
