My wife's truck hasn't gotten much interest from buyers and since the truck was repainted we don't really want to sell it, so I want to add some power. It is a GMC Yukon XL 5.3 with 3.73 gears. I was going to do a motor swap but she'd rather me turbo it. Goal is 400-450whp, great mileage, and excellent manors. Plans are 67mm or 70mm, 8-10psi, 214/210 cam .550 lift 114lsa, and 42 lbs injectors.....would I need a FMIC and are my goals within reason with the hardware I have planned? Should i work the heads at all, or add head studs and rod bolts? Thanks

Yes your goals are very doable. Go ahead and get the 70mm turbo. No ic is needed if your under 6/7 psi. And for the power you are looking for you probably will not have much boost.

Rick I actually spoke with you a couple weeks ago. I had your basic non intercooled kit in mind. With what all parts I'm wanting to run at 7psi what power would I make? Also would a stall around 2500-2600 be ideal or run the stock stall?

i would also keep in mind for future, bigger injectors and pump for safety!!!
450hp is doable, not sure on the 114 lsa cam, I would step up to something in the 155-117.5 range. Stock z06 cam will work great for a budget. Agreeing with 1slow I would see that a 67 would work great and not have hardly any lag with the weight of that yukon xl. Def if you are towing or taking trips, I would highly consider an intercooler.

The 70 and a .81 a/r exhaust would be a great setup and spool like NOW with a small converter. The stock fuel pump should do for that and 42#ers will be plenty. On any system I'd recomment an intercooler but it's not absolutely necessary with that low boost. Make sure your trans is up for the task. The stock rearend will be fine.

i don't understand the reason for small injectors, someone break it down for me. I understand the difference for a small exh. house on turbo and size of the compressor side, but if you are purchasing injectors, why limit yourself with an injector that will be close to maxed out on 5-6 psi? I am running 8 psi when its cold out and my 60's are in the mid to high 80 idc.
If you are wanting a reliable set up why not go ahead and go a little over the "that will work" berrier?

Kinda the same way i was saying about bigger injectors, room to grow......I like that statement!
