just wondering how much is involved in rebuilding these. I am a mechanic and have rebuilt many engines but have never looked into a turbo. Can you get a manual for them anywhere? I have found rebuild kits for about $90, the local diesel shop wants $425 if i remove the housings for them. The rebuild kits are one size fits all - is that normal?

 

You should be able to get a manual very easily. If it is journal bearing setup you can download a holset manual from their website if you want insite into whats involved. It isn't hard. Just makes sure you mark your shaft position in relation to your fans for proper balancing.
