Frame size is still T4, and the exhaust housing is basically the same as the PT88, so everything should bolt up fine. Oil feed and drain are also the same. The cover, on the other hand, is a lot bigger, probably 50% larger in diameter.
The compressor wheel is 76mm, and the turbine wheel is 81/87 versus the 94mm of the pt88. The guys at BW say this wheel will flow just as much but respond much better.
This turbo *may* make slightly less peak power than the pt88 but it should be much more controllable than the pt88 and spool much, much faster. The guy I bought it from put my engine specs into the BW program to see how it would respond and it said should have full boost by 2500rpm and not max out until 6400rpm ish. Im not looking for max drag racing power, just something fun to drive, and the pt88 wasnt that fun.
Reed at Work turbochargers in Birmingham is who I bought it from. He is one of the most knowledgeable turbo guys I have ever talked to, and spent probably an hour on the phone with me answering questions and talking before I ever said I would buy something. I highly recommend him if anyone is in the market for a new turbo.
He mentioned if the current 1.10 AR exhaust housing is too responsive he would be happy to switch it out for a 1.25AR. Also if the compressor ends up being too small then we could change it up to the 80mm compressor. Customer service doesn't get any better than that.
Boost goal is still the same, 16-18psi.
