Default Fuel Pump going south?

Hi was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with a problem. My inline fuel pump that came with my Radix SC is making this really loud squealing noise.

When you turn the key to the on position you can hear it kicking in, but it's making this very loud noise. Once the truck starts, it continues to whine very loudly. You can hear it from about 20-30 feet away. Is this a sign of it going out? Fuel pump was installed around July when I got my Radix. Truck runs but once you get it going, it wants to die out. Any input would be appreciated.

Check the fuel filter.

start with a fuel pressure test... A noisy pump can be a pump on it's last leg... Have you ran it out of fuel lately?

I was thinking of changing out the fuel filter, since they are so inexpensive. I'll try that tomorrow. Haven't ran it out of fuel, but I did pump gas when I hit 1/4 mark on my last fill up.

The advice about checking your fuel pressure is dead on as well. I would start there and have the filter ready to replace.

Just because the pump makes noise doesn't mean it's going to die... but it can be a symptom. replace the filter and check pressure....

Yeah will check the fuel pressure as well. What a way to start the year. Dumb question but what would the pressure be at normally?

Truck is a 2000.

My Radix manual said this is what it came with.

FUEL PUMP, INLINE, WALBRO GSL 394, 1999-2002 RADIX TRUCK & SUV
