the PCM core or the I/C core? The PCM is about 3" thick....the I/C is about 2-1/4".

Yes, the IC core. It looks like quite a bit of surface area, but just looked thin in the picture. I was curious to know just how thick of a core would fit in the late model trucks without major mod's.

Has anyone tried one of the Ford PS IC's yet? They seem to be reasonably priced on e-bay. Or is the core just too thick to work in the area?

not sure if there was a loom there on mine or not if there was i probably just pushed it out of the way. my throttle body controler is right behind my ecu. i could not put the brace back in i wish i could have but it wasn't gonna happen. parish laid his done in there he cut the plastic back on the fuse box and made room and just laid it down.
