Default exhaust water injection

A friend and I were talking the other day about the big diesel tractor pullers injecting water(small amounts) into the exhaust manifolds right before the turbo to build big boost fast. I don't recall anyone ever talking or trying this here. Maybe this would help some of the big turbo all out guys like Parish build boost fast, maybe its not possible on a gas engine.

On a gas engine that utilizes the 02 sensors to monitor the A/F ratio, this will throw them way off. On a rear mount like the sts this may be possible however the amount you inject would be crutial because the water will cool the turbine too much and it could become inefficient. Heat is a primary factor in the spooling of the turbo. Hmmmmm. If you could keep the turbo in the 1100-1300 degree range ( approx. heat range not real sure) then it might help.

Yea I forgot about the O2s. I guess depending on what type of programming your using, for example with ls1edit the O2s aren't used @ wide open throttle.

I think the idea behind it is that the water would turn to steam and provide MUCH more volume to spool the turbo and increase the max boost pressure. You wouldn't have the heat, but you would have a lot move volume to make up for it. It would be something to try. Anyway, you don't use the O2's in WOT anyway.
