Damnit I told you to get a 9s pass before you blew it up!
Glad you are ok though. Looks like it detonated and the stock piston exploded...forged pistons just melt, the stock hypereutectic pistons exploded like that.

I vote for a forged 4.8! Make it happen!

Sad day for a Bad *** truck! Put those flags at half staff lol!
You have just over $200 in donations for another 4.8.
Either find a 05-06 4.8 and let her ride, get that 9!
Or get a older 4.8, use the stock crank and get forged rods and pistons.
Either way it sucks it blew. But it went out with style!
900hp isn't a easy thing just make happen.

Would be scary to see what a forged 4.8 would handle... You certainly put that one through the wringer. If you don't get an 05+ junkyard engine to test its capabilities too, I've got your back

So glad you're ok. History was made and you are definitely a pioneer paving the way for us all. I would do a later model 4.8 if you want the stock long block record. You'll probably blow it again after a few passes in the 9's but would be the first to do it! If you don't want the record and want to just drive it why not an LS1 aluminum block? Skip the 5.3 altogether as long as your setup still works. Not any bad choices here.

Most important thing is that you mad it out ok. The motor can be replaced. Good luck on the new power plant.

I'm in to see what happend aswell, I too think your piston blew up, do you test your fuel? E85 can vary a long way Iv heard of people claim as low as e35 when tested. You can buy a test tube to test it off ebay for 10 bucks, id like to see were your fuel was at when this happend cause you got a TON of cylinder pressure making 1100hp with a 4.8 it wouldnt take much bad fuel at your level to pop a piston. And also are you on stock rod bolts?
