Default Flexible Intake Hose with Whipple?

So I am trying to get this piping issue with a Whipple and the 4" CXRacing intercooler worked out. I have hacked up the plastic around the headlights as much as I can, but I need to be able to get some piping around that honkin' 34" radiator.

Has anyone used some type of flexible hose like this with a boosted application for the intercooler intake and output? I am not planning on running more than 10-15psi and it will be with a Whipple, so a little less heat than a turbo.

Flexible Hose 1

Flexible Hose 2

What type of whipple? The new ones have an a/w intercooler... so this flex hose would be useless. Not to mention I'm not sure how a flex hose would fare under a lot of pressure. I would think it would have a tendency to stretch and move around.

It is the older 2-belt side mount whipple, that's why I am trying to do something custom. I got the 31x12x4" CX Intercooler and have it mounted, but to do custom aluminum piping would require A LOT of work. The one hose that is Spectre Performance is rubber and is reinforced with wire on the inside. Do you think that would matter?

It won't work, that will be subject to full manifold vac and it will suck it closed.

Even with the reinforced wire? Would it bend it?

Yes and yes. I have first hand expirience with inter cooling that type of setup. I have a couple long threads on it here as did a couple other members.

I fell your pain with the 34" radiator, on the passenger side with the airbox out of the way theres miles. On the drivers side I moved the computer back a couple inches but it all fits, this is 3" piping on the drivers side too

GRRR, thanks, that helps a lot. I have been hacking away at the headlight support bracket, but looks like I will need to go more. I do see how the PCM is attached and that shouldn't be terrible to move a few inches towards the firewall, and I see how that will give me some more room.

What did you do with the stock power steering cooler?

Mounted it horizontal under the intercooler. I cut the lines and straightened them out then put a flare on the ends and used some rubber hose

Yeah I moved my computer as far back as it would go after unbolting it and as you can see there is just barely enough room

Oh and I hacked my headlight brackets real good as you can see so I ended up making braces on the four points that the grill mounts to so its still rigid

The only silicone couplers that will work have to join pipes, a silicone elbow will not work as it too will suck closed. Also either bead roll your pipes or weld some small ribs onto the ends or the couplers will come off. Remember this isn't the same as a turbo setup as the intercooler and piping will be subject to full vac.
