Default FI guys I need your experience.

I could put this in the project section I suppose but this may be more fitting since it's not an exotic rebuild. My new '16 will now be my daily in a week or so. I am keeping the '14 for use as well. This is what I envision. A 4wd daily 5.3 6speed for starters on E85. Trick twin or single depending on what will fit 4wd. I prefer a low mount and he is working on that. I think it will take 800 whp to run high 6's high 10's at what I think will be a 5350 race weight. May do more hp in the future.
So I'm starting a list.
Cam and kit 38% lobe? What specs? What vendor? Port heads while off?
LT4 fuel system and low side. In tank or inline since I'm not in boost often?
ARP Head bolts or studs needed?
Do I have to gap rings? If so probably just do forged pistons and rods and main studs but not preferred.
Probably a Circle D converter maybe 32-3400 but still tight enough to daily without being annoying or is that too much?
I know I'm missing a lot.

I’d gap the rings and use studs but that is me.

Your rods are a weak link.

Thanks for that hadn't heard that yet. What do you think they will hold? Also what do you think about the Gwatney Performance drop ins? Callies Compstar and Wiseco no balancing required? Other than that does that mean I will have to do a fbe?

Connecting Rods are: Forged powder metal

they are considered part of the weak link, along w/ pistons

rule of thumb that i hear is:
10#s is safe
at 12#s or above, you are on borrowed time

Thank you so much! I'm thinking E85 so more than 10 for sure. If I'm gonna do it. do it bigger right?

So unless I want to start at mid 600's I better do a fbe. I've been looking at prices looks like 5300 with cam installed for a 5.3 or maybe 7400 ish for a 6.2 but then I have to buy heads as well instead of porting only. I feel like the additional may be worthwhile but not necessary needed. Really appreciate you guys very much! Any other input is welcome.

Would still love some cam suggestions. Looks like I'll stick with the 5.3 with ported heads and fbe. A 6.2 would be about about another 5k on top of an already big budget so probably not now. Also should I lower the compression a bit to 10 for more boost safety or am I ok with E85?

Still been doing research. Looks like I maybe could do a 6.2 or even a 415 for not a ton more than forging mine with ported heads. So my question is what about a 415? I already know the answer on the 6.2. I could run lower boost and still have great off idle torque < 3k rpm which is where I spend most of my time anyway. Then easily get the hp I'm looking for. I have a habit of overthinking the hell out of everything.

I've gotten most of my unanswered questions from other forums and I'm now moving forward but I could still use some cam suggestions to consider. Hate to keep bothering but I would appreciate any input from guys in the know on trucks. Then I'll run some numbers and decide. Thanks guys I appreciate all you do
