FI guys I need your experience.

Cam selection comes at the end depending on CI, boost level, converter speed, etc etc. You have to iron out your plan. I think a 415 will work well, but at the same time a well built and specd 6.2 should have a lot of tq also.

Thanks guys. This much I do know...I'm having hi mount twins! Rick says boost could come in at 2500 rpm so I'm stoked. Put up my deposit for what he thinks will take 2 mos. to build. He's a popular guy so he's got lots of others in the pipeline. So maybe in 4 mos. or so it'll be on the street?

Some thoughts. I could squeeze out a 6.2 for ~ 5k more or a 415 for maybe 6k more than a fbe 5.3. Thereabouts anyway. However I am so tempted to stay 5.3 simply because of the transmission. No ability to do a 4l80 on these trucks at the present time so I have to consider reliability. If I'm right it's torque that kills a trans not hp is that right? So with so much weight and not having a pd blower I'm hoping to be able to do 800 whp and it live with Sam's magic tune on a 5.3. Please tell me I'm wrong because I don't mind doing it right the first time. No desire to go cheap just good.

Got a local trans guy recommendation from AMP and we are supposed to talk in a day or two. I am trying to determine what I can do and stay reliable. AMP built a 900 whp Escalade that killed a stock trans in pretty short order and they supposedly sent him to this guy. No idea but guessing an 8l90. I'll build or swap or start out at 600 whp if I need to for a while. Who knows if I'll have a 4l80 or a 10l90 in my future. I have no idea.
One another note Rick at Trick Turbo is building the 14+ twins prototype on his '18 as he has time. We decided on 900 whp capable twin turbos for now with the design able to go much more in the future if desired with a turbo change. I have many options of course with engines and am in no rush. The trans is the weak link so I'm just taking my time to properly plan for what I want. In a world of 50-100k trucks I'm not sparing the $. I'm old, have worked and still work hard and want what I want. A DD work truck that runs 6's, hurts feelings and makes me money in my business.
In the mean time I compete again in a few weeks (May 2nd) and I'm already over the USPA national and world raw bench record for old effers. Gym closed for now but not my home gym.

Ok talked to the trans guy. He said 800 whp isn't asking too much at all in his opinion. He suggests keeping the 6 spd unless I turn it way up later. He said with Sam's tune I could just drive it until it slips and then bring it in. So I guess that will be the plan. Moving on...
