My other thought is, what if the restriction is really helping me, due to the hotter EGTs? Though I don't know how hot my EGT's get by the end of the run. Plus I though Engine heat is wasted energy so maybe not?

why not find a AEM DryFlow that doesn't use oil at all? especially for a filter that sits below the truck body...that oiled filter attracts every dust and dirt particle any where near it...the ProCharger comes with one too...a flaw to the kit in my opinion...

a few more good reasons for using a DryFlow...especially in an STS application...

Honestly, I don't think that's much of a problem -- while the truck is running you are sucking in such large amounts of air with the turbo that oil in the filter won't make much of a difference -- a filter sock, on the other hand might help keep cleaning down.

So it sounds like bigger is better, but Why? 12 psi is 12 psi right? other than the turbo "spooling" faster...

A restricted intake will probably be causing a slight rise in intake temps as well as decreasing spool time. How much is the big debate I guess.
Look at all the drag cars and truck set up for the strip, they run no filter at all from what I've seen, maybe just a screen to keep out track debris.
I would have to say they do this for a reason. Then again your not running some gigantic turbo that needs 100bazillion cfm. I think your choice of the larger K+N would be fine all round, street or strip.

YA, I've been toying with the idea of a screen instead of a filter for track use only. I want to find the absolute limitations of the LQ4/GT-67/meth/44lb injectors before I change anything major..... Think a new filter will drop 4 tenths. lol

At least 4 tenths. I'd slap a 10 second filter in there and go after Parish!!!!
