Yes people do it but if you know how to tune it, you shouldn't have too in most cases.

Playing with the idle airflow tables within the tune will normally solve this problem.

kinda what i figured the only reason I’m asking is because my truck is currently being tuned and the tuner wants to drill a hole in the blade in order to fix the problem and it just seemed alittle odd and maybe like he was taking the easy way out in order to fix the problem

Sounds like you need to find your self a new tuner. Any competent tuner should be able to dial in the idle within the tune without “mechanically” altering the truck

he’s telling me that truck is requesting more air and the computer will not allow him to open the TB any further...I’ve had my truck tuned by him in the past multiple times and have never once had any issues like this he tuned the last Turbo set up i was running without a problem but now I’m running a bigger Turbo and a cam and he’s having issues with idle could we be over look something small like too small of an air filter or a restrictive intercooler?? Just thinking out loud at this point

Do not let anyone drill a hole. Find someone else to tune it if need be.

What is the engine setup? An I assume you mean 90mm LS2

Your airflow demand at idle is fairly low with a 5.3 and a mild turbo cam. That should be no issue tuning.
