Spoke with a tech at procharger yesterday. According to procharger, the gear sets are matched like a ring and pinion. I'm over a barrel so the head unit is going back. 3 week lead time once rec'd, but the silver lining is they're in KS so it will be quick transit time, I'll have time to rebuild my front end again, and get the intercooler mounted that came in yesterday.
Procharger rec'd my head unit, and it's patiently waiting in the blower room. I'm excited for the phone call, but not for the blower's 'bail'.
Rebuilt the front end, again, while I'm waiting. I originally did UCA's and LBJ's at 100k, and LBJ's again at 195k when I did the Bilstein struts/shocks. At 209k, UCA's had worn bushings but UBJ's were solid. LBJ's were BAD after 1 year- one was so worn my pickle fork almost wasn't thick enough to pop it off the knuckle. I also either got hosed on the moog LBJ's last go round, or they updated the parts. Same part number as I reordered from Amazon.
Bright side is intercooler, piping, boost gauge with pod, and vacuum manifold are waiting under my workbench to be installed. Supposedly same part number for both.... Passenger side Drivers side
Try having a Silverado SS that is apparently a unicorn for Moog parts. I will admit I was an idiot to not take my parts with me to verify and instead verify when I got home. I just did inner/outer tie rods and both wheel bearings and it was mind numbing! Sucks when there are like 3 different P/N's for the same component that all "fit" the truck. Sorry had a flashback when I saw all those Moog parts lol.
Procharger called. 1400 later I'll have a completely fresh head unit by New Years. Still less into it than a used D1SC. Will be ready to bolt on and go by the time it arrives hopefully.
In the meantime, got some more work done. Found a bad wheel hub. Timken made it about 70k, OEM made it 130k. Ordered SKF. Disappointed in timken longevity. Ordered the other side as I'm sure it's not far behind, and what happened last time. My 05 Colorado made it over 400k with a lift and 20's or 31x10.5s on OEM front end components- hubs, bj's, tie rod ends.
Also got the gauge pod installed, and installed my boost gauge. It is nice to not have my wideband rolling around in top of the steering column anymore. The screw glowshift provided was too long but I fortunately had a spare 3rd Gen Camaro screw that was perfect after adding a couple washers.
Project for this truck is done prematurely. We got hit on a gravel intersection on my way to the inlaws Christmas day. The important thing is we're all ok, thank God. Sore, but ok. The truck did its job keeping us safe.
I'm going back later this week to get what parts I can off the truck- really just the procharger bracket and gauges. Maybe the PCM and UD pulley. Pretty sure the passenger header is crushed, truck is sitting on the mbrp exhaust, K&N cai is probably smoked, B&M supercooler looked sketchy. Not looking forward to getting a truck that hasn't been cam swapped already and the gamble of stock valve train.
And the last good photo of her I could find, with our Z28.
