Default cracked log manifold

Well I finally found where my exhaust leak was coming from. There's a nice crack in the middle of my turbo manifold. Has anyone else ever had this happen. I was thinking about welding it up tomorrow and see how that does. Seems like there's always something wrong with this truck lol

My brother has the same problem on his grand national, we just pull the welder out and weld up the crack. Works well until another week area is found.

Is it at a weld junction of the log, or at the pipe seam weld?

Unfortunately, that's what happens with 16ga (.063 thick) SS tube logs. SS has a much higher rate of expansion and contraction then mild steel so when it heats and cools, it moves a LOT and flexes. In time that causes cracking especially in something like a log when you have a bunch of joints tying things together and not giving it room to move.

mine has cracked many times. one thing that helped was cutting the flange between the middle two runners. put a small gap in it. it would be nice if we could get a cast manifold made to bolt in. id rather run a well built cast mani than a cracky ss mani.

I've never had one of these crack, 3/16 think mild steal. Even with a 45 pound turbo hanging off it!
