Im just doin' some research....anyone have any cons on the STS or the front mount kits? i was hearing that the front mounts were gettin' hot and engine temps were high, has this been resolved?...ive just seen some peeps getting rid of their kits and wondering why.....

on all turbo kits (except diesel):
1) it's addictive
2) high maintenance
3) oil consumption (blow by in the turbo seals)

For more check the STS vs. ... sticky at the top of the forum.

The only real problem i have had in the 3 years of having a turbo on my truck is that I can't stand to drive anything else unless its got a turbo or a ton of power!

If you coat the pipes, and run a turbo blanket I don't see how the front mount could get that hot under the hood. The only way I would go rear mount would be for emissions, or under hood space. Most factory turbo cars & trucks have the turbo up front. Some have front, and rear, but I have never seen a factory rear mount. Dose one exist?

Our front mounts are fine, and under hood temps will be a little higher. That is to expected (coatings and blankets can cut that way down), you have more turbing in the engine compartment and the turbine housing is another piece of cast iron. BUT your engine temps will not change becuase of a front mount.
We supply heat shielding for anything that is close to a heat source, AC line..
People maybe selling there kits for the money, in any hiperformance parts, people get board and want bigger or more, or even different. WE have sold kits to people that owned other turbo systems, just to try the difference and see for themself.

Turbo trucks will have a little higher maintance schedule then a NA truck. Meaning you will need to keep an eye on oil level, and oil quality. recommended to run pure synthetic oil like mobil one, etc.

This has been a very rainy year in Texas, so common freakin' sense is required in flooded areas with a rear mount...even in a 4X4, but no complaints whatsoever except I have to run it in autotrac all the time now...traction impaired.

A con I see for the STS kit is lag. On the street the STS setup has a lot more lag than compared to a similar front mount. Even with wrap and coatings, it just takes longer for boost to build. Sure you can down size the turbine housing, but then you're just sacrificing top end power.

Turbo's suck, expecially the Trick Kit. The stupid thing made too much power and blew my tranny in 2 weeks flat

There is no downside on a properly installed turbo kit that is tuned right.Except the power that strains the driveline
