I suppose you could put an indicator on it and see...would be difficult with the aluminum cover though. Could put the indicator on the turbine nut to check.

I think I figured it out. Took a straight edge to the compressor housing backplate and it's definitely warped. The first two pics are of one side that's flat, and the other three pics are of the other side that's warped. This makes sense, the way its warped it will bring the compressor housing closer to the wheel causing it to rub.

Flat side:

Warped side, see gap under right side of straight edge:

hmm, looks warped bad. Check the cover as well. Its thicker then that backing plate. Wonder when you tighten the bolts up how warped it is.?
Bad, that could have been done in shipping, if it was dropped really hard.

The previous owner never used it, so it could be from before he got it. But I agree, probably from a drop/shipping.

Talked to Magnum and they said they no longer carry parts for Master Power turbos. They said they usually scrap failed MP turbo's.

Sucks sorry to hear that... Id mark the blade position and pull it apart and put a dial indicator on the shaft to see if it's bent. You might be able to locate parts thru a turbo rebuilder, they are really easy to rebuild. Also shaft might be able to be straightened.

Was the package insured when shipped? Ups has a $200 insurance policy built into the normal rate. Might be worth a shot

Unfortunately, I bought the unit 5 months ago, so I the box and any chance of claiming shipping damage is long gone. I did not notice any damage to the box or physical impact damage on the unit itself. The unit sat on my shelf in the same exact spot until a couple weeks ago when I took it apart to coat the housings.

The seller has already refused to refund my money. One picture he sent before the sale shows the bent compressor housing bracket however, which is an indication that it suffered an impact before the sale.

Compressor housing brackets (pics I took yesterday):
