Default Cluster boost gauge mount

Hey guys, check out my boost gauge mounting location. It was a bit of work, I had to separate the glass with a hot razor blade, hole drill from behind through three layers of plastic and circuit board, insert the gauge and secure it, solder the lighting wires to the circuit board and run the hose to a tee in the vacuum line. I then glued the glass back on, reassembled it all, and to my surprise, it worked perfectly. The picture speaks for itself. I am more than happy with it. Having the cluster apart allowed me to clean up all the dust that had accumulated in there over the years. Running around 8.5psi.

I wish I would have done a step-by-step with pics. Of course, if you have tranny temp in this location, then it won't work for you.

A lot of people hace done that in the past with good results but Ive got a trans temp gauge there so Im kinda stuck with going to overhead mounts since I dont want the attention of an apilar mount again.

Dang, and I was trying to be original...

Chances are if someone thinks it up, it's already been done.

Yeah I think the first people I know of doing it was back 05ish but you executed it well, no shame in that. Looks good, any particular reason you didnt go with a gauge that reads vacuum too?

I just wanted to know what the boost was and if I was in it. I didn't want it to be flopping around all the time below zero in the cluster, thought it might be a little distracting. It's really easy to look down and see where the boost is at like this, and I've never felt that knowing my vacuum was all that important.

Vacuum is great for honing your driving habits to for better mileage and also to keep track on vacuum hoses IE leaks without having to pop the hood.

looks very clean, the white face matches your gauges nearly perfect. Does it light the same color as the stock gauges at night?

Lets get serious, you probably plan on running more than 20psi, hm? The vacuum/boost gauges don't go high enough

Awesome looking install though, I like it.

The speedo & tach have a dark backing at night and the boost gauge is white. It's a little brighter but still looks good.

I looked for an Autometer gauge that only went up to 15 or 20 but no luck.
