clanks clunks and rattles in my radix
#1
my 112 is starting to get really noisy when in gear but at idle. super loud clanks and clunks coming from what seems to be the rear of the housing. i think the bearings may be going out....or maybe its the phenolic coupler in the nose drive and the noise is just being drawn out the rear....j tube tuba, ya know. it happens when the engine shudders with the cam. i have 100mm idler pulleys and the adjustable front bracket. i do not, however, have the new steroid tensioner that magnacharger offers. i am running a 2.8 pulley and spinning the hell out of the thing. i do notice when the blower is making the noise, the tensioner is jumping all over the place...like a fishin pole when something big it biting. any thoughts? thanks.

When I had my Radix and a cam I had to bump the idle speed up to almost 800 get rid of the noise. As far as I remember, it doesn't hurt anything, just makes that obnoxious noise.

Mine does the exact same thing and I have a low idle also. if you watch your afr you will see a dip whenevr you get this hesitation and the idle drops just a bit. Raise your idle and it should correct i am just waiting to get re-tuned for that very reaon.

thanks for all the input.
spent today playing with the truck. i recently upgraded from a vette TAC to an xlink. the idle is now a tad lower and the engine tends to shudder. i plugged in a TECH2 and bumped the idle up 50rpm and everything got happy again. just need to retune for the new throttle characteristics and adjust the idle speeds.
might also go with the beefier tensioner, but at $150 ill start with the tune. is it a fabricated tensioner or an OEM part adapted for the radix use?
i got my 100mm idlers at napa...they are dayco. not as pretty as the metcos, but a whole lot cheaper. i dont see evidence of belt slip, and it never throws belts.
when the blower clunks, the tensioner dances. click on the AC to put a bit of load on the motor and it goes away...also raises idle.
