Whenever I hear someone ask about going FI there are many things that get left out of the conversation, that is until they blow up.
If I had to do it all overagain I would have went with a 4l80 swap and possibly a 6.0l to start with instead of the 5.3l. Hindsight is a great thing, too bad it doesn't help.
Sounds like your truck is a great place to start, you have all the things I wish mine was except the added weight.

You will definetly need to go with a used setup to meet your budget, but there is nothing wrong with that. And it sounds to me that you would probably be most happy with a radix, the low end torque it makes will make towing easier and also get the weight of a big truck up and going better then a turbo or centrifugal supercharger.
