Boost controller question
#1
currently doing a vs racing 78/75 turbo install on an lq9. Cammed, stall, usual stuff.
Its in a crew cab Sierra Denali and it’s AWD. I realize it’s a heavy truck, not wanting a dragster. It’s gonna be a fun DD. Goal is 5-600 hp to the tire.
What boost at controller do y’all recommend? Was thinking 8-12 PSI on a conservative tune since I drive her a lot. If possible I don’t need the fancy eboost controllers, a simple set and go will work I just need advice on what to use.
Thanks guys

I know you said you don't want anything fancy like an eBoost but I wouldn't skimp on the controller. It's a relatively cheap insurance to know you won't over boost. Same goes with wastegates, I had to get an eBay cheapy so I could start my truck and move it around and when I finally put my JGS on the eBay had seized closed..

I like the eboost street personally. Its a little cheaper than the eboost2 if you dont need a ton of features, but has the basic stuff like solenoid duty cycle, gate open pressure, overboost protection, secondary output to turn on stuff by rpm or boost.

I use all those features I mentioned, they are very nice to have. Duty cycle (total boost), gate pressure (helps spool time tremendously), overboost protection (obvious reason), window swtich (turn on secondary fuel pump). Those are pretty basic functions.

Yes the instruction manual is like 30 pages.
Typically meth kits are set up separately and have their own controller of when to come on, so I wouldnt use it for that (although in theory you could).
That is way too much money for a manual boost controller, if you are going to spend $150 may as well spend $200 for a decent electronic one.
Whatever electronic one you get I recommend getting the 4 port solenoid instead of the normal 3 port. You can get a generic MAC one on ebay. Same one as the bigger companies sell, just a different sticker.
