Default boost controler questions.

well i have just installed a boost controller. its the one from sts. it has the little turn **** thing like on a air compressor. so what is a good way to adjust it? i want about 13psi i understand i need 3psi coming out of the controller to the top of the wastegate being that i have a 10lb spring. but is the only way to do it drive it....turn it...drive it... turn it? what i did try it put my compressor to about 3psi then turning the **** until air just started coming out of the regulator. then i turned the compressor up and made sure the output from the regulator did not increase. its not perfect and i was not sure if i should try it like that or not. i don't wanna over boost. any better ideas?

Might have to drive it, then turn it, etc. I know like on my manual controller a 1/4 of a turn is quite a bit. But all controllers are different. Just keep your eye on the boost gauge and back out of it if it trys go over then 13psi.

i guess thats what i'll do then. whats "high boost" for a 5.3 with water/meth?

yeah but your to chicken to even boost at all.

15psi is a lot. you can do 15 with the meth but you will need a fair amount of it to keep knock away.

for your boost controler. it will only take a few minutes to just turn and test, turn and test. keep an eye on it and be ready to let off. only try and get an extra psi or two and then check your tune. go in small steps and watch for knock.

I think my STS boost control gives me 1 psi per turn. I have the red spring in my wastegate vented to the atmosphere.

ok, i first got on it and the exhaust had a weird sound. i think the controller was just a hair over what the gate was. so i turned it up alittle cause it didn't make more boost. well it hit about 11.5ish. turned it up some more (about a 1/4 turn) and it gave about 12psi. so i did it one last time about a 1/8th turn to a 1/4 turn. and it did nothing. so i figure either the turbo was out of juice or i wasn't turning it enough. i also thought maybe the filter doesn't flow enough. its a small filter, 4"coupler but the same size as the small ricer cone filters. i just haven't upgraded.


oh and my meth stoped working on the way home so that ended all the fun. that and the wife blew the temp sensor out of the manifold at the track. so i had to get some epoxy and that clay stuff and put it back in. the track night ended early.
