Anymore Rear mount "fast" trucks...
#1
Anything in the 12+sec is fast in the DD form.. but do anymore of the guys still mess with the Rear mount idea?... With Trick,KB and not nelsons front mount kits and them getting cheaper and cheaper.... and lots of them used that float around......... Anyone going back to the Old school Rear mounts that got alot of us started?... I dont post on here a ton anymore..... I had a 5.3L 70mm for a while.... it was a TURD... I skipped to the 410/80e and S85 that i could not find headers for so i rear mounted it... Just as a Joke at first to see if it could "work"..
11.70 off the footbrake and 10.80 on just 13psi and 6200rpm .. I thought i was a bad ****.... I am making this post to see if anyone else still plays with them and this coming weekend a year ago i was able to make my Fastest pass in a rear mount leaf spring truck.. 9.71 141 it broke the trans every weekend for another 2 months..
I will post details on my Current project shortly and few progress pics along the way ...

I am pretty sure you have set the bar on the rear mount turbo's. I have read threw pages of different info about them not spooling well, this and that, blah blah... All though from all the ones I have seen run, were dialed in are running right, there with the best of them.. IMO if it isn't broke don't fix it..

I went 11.35@118 with an STS kit 4-5 years ago. It far exceeded my expectations and had more left in it. It was a DD work truck that I drove 30-35k per year. I swapped to a front mount setup about 3 years ago. Set up right they are fantastic kits.

Looks like I will be transplanting the HKE 6.0 in my ec Colorado as soon as I am financially able to complete it in a reasonable amount of time. Since I understand headers cost a mint on these trucks and I dont think a front mount is yet available I am considering installing the sts on it as well. I would think at roughly 1000-1100 lbs lighter than my rcsb 4x4 I should see some 6's at Kennedale.

I had an STS kit on my 04, while i never got the tuning dialed in at that time ( i was too fat on top) It was a lot of fun, and it was the best " sounding " kit ive ever heard, Turned heads everywhere. I did enjoy it, just didnt like the water issue i sometimes had but that was solved with a snorkel.
So go with what ya like, and damn your ETs are good enough to quiet the naysayers LOL

I don't see anything wrong with a rear mount at all if the vehical is short. Or if you mounted it more mid up by the trans... I often considered doing that, but living in colorado, it would be sucking up snow, salt, gravel, and hydrochloric acid...

I have been wondering how a rear mount would work on the mud truck in my sig in case I cant get the current setup to make enough power. The only thing that turns me off is needing an A2A intercooler. I never get going very fast and theres not many places to mount it so that it doesn't get caked in mud.
