I always did the big screwdriver through the flexplate. I never got the belt trick to work, always slipped.

IDK any better, but if the rocker girdles are off, can I just use the belt method, or impact or flywheel holding tool, & not worry about valve events. Does that make sense?

yes you will be fine, only time you need to worry about the valve timing is when the timing set is removed, all the valves are closed now with no rockers on them anyway..
hit that sucker with an impact already..!

Gotcha! Ya, I gotta go fire up the compressor, & hope it doesn't blow any CB's.

I guess I've been on here, carefully tip-toeing, so I don't make any mistakes. This is new ground for me, cause I'm doin this by myself, w/. guidance of all my PT buddies! People hundreds of miles away, where their help is either over phone & or thru a computer screen. Here goes nothin.

I know once I do it, my confidence will increase, where I'd do it again w/o worrying, or help someone if they needed. And I'll be faster too, next time around.

And now, I get to use air tools & have some real daylight.

To say that my SnapOn impact took that balancer bolt off w/. ease, is an understatement.

I sure hope Autozone or Oreilly's has that Chrysler balancer puller. If it doesn't, well, I'm at a impass then. I sure thought I had all tha tools covered. Old style balancer removal tools don't woke up these LS motors. Even w/. all the pullers in the box, nothin is suitable. ;(

Tom, you could go down to just about any parts store and buy a compression gauge. Just take the gauge off the end of the hose and put a quick connect on it to match up to what ever air compressor hose fittings you are using. The other end of the hose will already have the fitting on it to screw into the head. Something like this, but just about anyone will work; just remember to remove the little check-valve from the end of the hose:

Jarrod, I've got the Compression Kit, & I found the 14mm hose.
I'm guessin there's a Schraeder valve in 1 end or the other. I just hook that hose straight to my air, right? That coupler is way smaller than my air line tools use, but once I search thru fittings, I should be good.

I also found the OEM / Chrysler harmonic dampener puller at Autozone. $70 in stock to rent, then u get your $ it back after u return tool. Goin there now.

I didn't get diddley done today. Went to Autozone, picked up both a Chrysler harmonic puller & a 3 jaw. I asked for a harmonic installer too, cause I didn't wanna come back if mine at home didn't cut it.

The Chrysler one took it a good ways off, but not all the way. I switched to the 3 jaw, it didn't work. So I went & asked a buddy I used to work w/. if he had somethin & we ended up B.S.'g for a few hrs. And that's where it stood til now.

Before I left, I thought of an idea, but wanted to see if he had a puller. Just now, I tried that idea; all I had top do was take the arms on the 3 jaw & go down to the next set of holes. It started to move, so I should be fine now.

My best friend is gonna come over, pizza time & then some work will get done.
Now I gotta put my Crane dual valve spring tool together.

The 2 bolts on bottom of tim'g cover - oil pan come off, then the (4) 10mm for oil pump. SO, now I gotta drop the oil pan ~1/2" so I can get the oil pickup tube off.

Once that's done, I remove pickup tube bolt on pass. side, tug & pump comes off. Do most people drain their oil at that point?
Sounds like 1 thing leads to another.
