Another "Turbo Build Check List" Thread

Yea the FIC's have data as well and a local shop is a dealer.
One thing I didnt realize until now is that I may not be able to drop the 450 in my stock bucket. I didnt plan on doing a return setup.. now I'm not sure which way to go. We were planning on knocking it all out Friday-Sunday since it's the daily.

yea j feel you. I’m not sure how to make the 450 fit into the flex bucket but I’ve seen some guys custom make them but I rather not go through that trouble. Especially if flex pump will hold to about 5-600hp stock form. Im trying to find someone that makes a kit to drop in the flex fuel trucks. But think non flex fuel should be hard? If I don’t use the decapped injectors I might use the 80# in the turbo kit I’m looking at

With that cam and turbo no problem 500+ may even be able to hit 600 but idk about the pump after that. Do you have the parts already? Remember post pictures please lol

I have pretty much everything sitting here with the exception of that fuel pump assembly that I'm going to order. Hopefully that ACDelco MU1847 works as well as I read on here.
I'll try to get as many pics as I can. We're starting with the DOD stuff first, not sure if you care to see that or not lol.

You mentioned that its a crew cab. So its a big heavy truck obviously. I think you can do better choosing a different cam. Reach out to Stock48 for a suggestion, the one you have chosen may work well for a light car, loose converter, but in your truck with the little 5.3 a smaller duration one would be so much better for all around Driving IMO. I had an isky triple 12 cam (stock48's specd cam) in an NA 5.3, then turbo'd and it was a hoot to drive. I personally am not a fan of the Circle D converters, I have never seen one that isn't too loose. This isn't a race car your building, it still has to be tolerable to drive or you will hate it. With a better cam, you could tighten up the converter as well.
For the trans, you don't need a Super servo or anything for 4th. If it had a Blower on it maybe, turbo no. A 4l60 has no business getting power put down in 4th gear especially in a heavy vehicle. You would be surprised that a simple .500 boost valve, and a Corvette servo (that is installed correctly with the right Servo clearance) Willl allow the trans to hold a bit of power and last awhile if the trans is in decent shape. Keep the torque management in, it, just cut it down at low throttle; there is some tuning tricks here. Get the bugs worked out, when you decide to raise the power level save up for an 80 and be done with it.
