Well my new turbo finally arrived this week. I had orderd a Ball bearing Turbonetics T76 with a .81AR. I open the box and was greeted with this

A 5'' flange! WTF am I supposed to do with this?I would have go straight through the fire wall remove my sterieo, and run it through dash to make it fit
Any way I had a .68 housing laying around I threw on. I have been really easy on it just getting on it for short bursts of 3-4 seconds.( still running the -3 oil line) I can allready tell it's not happy. The thing sounds like a jett, and gets into boost really quickly, but feels alot slower. Id say at least .3-.5 tenths. All in all with the .96 jurnal bearing I had about 3seconds of lag up at this altitude. With the ball bearing, and .68 I have 2-2.5. I lost big up top for a tiny bit down low. On my combo the .96 is deffinatly the way to go. It would have been interesting to see what the .81 would have done, but im going to se if they will replace it with a correct flanged .96. On a side note the boost is running 16-17psi. I cannot turn it down due to the spring im running. Same spring the .96 setup would only make 14-15psi but ran stronger.

That's interesting stuff. I think your seeing more lose cuz of you elevation and the fact that your pushing the turbo so hard. A lower boost setup, I don't think would be as noticeable other then the quicker spool, cus your still flowing a lot of exhaust though the wastegate anyway. I'm running a .68 on my 4.8 and dads 5.3, cuz I like the quick spool and I don't run high boost very often.

when I tried to run 12psi up hear. At a roll my converter feels loose driving around, and makes my truck feel a bit sluggish. But from a dead stop 12PSI boosted launch it is a savage.

Are you running the F1 (GTK1000) wheel?

Just checked. This new turbo is a P wheel, and my old turbo was the F1 wheel. That sucks cuz i cannot use the .96 housing off the blown turbo. I had originaly orderd the .68 housing for my old turbo, but they sent the wrong one. I was supposed to send it back for the correct housing, but It ended up fitting this turbo so it kinda temporarly saved the day.

I fueled up with 25% E85 tonite, and the truck is running much better.
Tune was on the rich side so it really cleaned things up. Response, and spool up is much better. I kinda like the was it sounds with the .68. Before you couldnt even tell I had a turbo, now it sounds like a jet. Drove by a group of ricers sitten at the shell station, and they were breaking ther necks
Also quieted down my exhaughst alot. Who knows, if I can figure out how to get the shift point's down from 6000 to 53-5500 it may run decent.

Figured out how to adjust the **** points.
Backed em down to 5400RPM. Seems to be running better. I might dyno it next week. I know the power will be lower than the .96 but I might do it any way.
