6.0 Hp

How much hp can a stock 6.0 handle? Was planning on building a 408 but came across a LQ4 for virtually free. Debating on slapping a LPE 2-3 cam on, port the heads, add a Magnacharger and calling it a day since the price is right on the motor.

I've heard of 6.0's living well at boost levels over 10psi. You probably won't get that much out of 112 maggie with bigger cam and fairly open exhaust. Porting the heads may be a waste of money unless you're using a blower with more capacity than the 112. I have an LQ4 going in a reg cab stepside in a few days. I'm hoping for 500hp at the wheels (+/- 600 fwhp). Ought to make for a pretty salty ride. It made 420 when it had a 5.3 under the maggie. Hoping that with better heads, 90mm throttle body, smaller pulley, and more cubes, we'll hit 500rwhp.

actually the block is good to well over 1000rwhp, proven several times
the crank is good to about 1000rwhp
the pistons and rods are only good to about 550-600rwhp. this is what needs replaced if going over 550rwhp

Not a 6.0, the 6.0 is beefier internally. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...hlight=parish8
Rule of thumb is 10lb boost but I know of another engine running more and hanging together.
It really depends on what you want, a big bad 408 would be awesome too.
