Going to Island tonight
#1
It's a little late notice, but I'm going to hit up Island tonight.
Going to see what this tune did for me. If anyone ends up there, I'll be with an orange 2002 SS camaro, say hello.

I'll give em hell for you guys.
I'll let you know the results later on. I plan of doing a small amount of tweaking while I'm there. I was able to add my truck onto my friends HP Tuners for $100. It's pretty cool, I have been playing with the trans and smoothing out the timing table that TTP put in.

Short answer, good and bad. Air sucked and I was getting some KR with my TTP tuned timing and PE tables. I ended up making the 5200-6000 cells a bit richer to reduce KR and lowering the timing cells in that area by 1 degree.
Then I sort of merged a Hypertech 93 octane table together with my modified TTP table to create a very nice package. The TTP table did not alter any timing that I would see during everyday driving, so I fixed that. I logged some of the drive home for KR, but the logs never showed any. So it's pretty good for now.
Fastest time of the night was the last run which was 15.26@91.76 with 0.2 degrees of KR at 5200-5400rpm. Previous best in this type of air was 15.5 at high 80's mph. After the last run I made another change to the fuel and timing tables that should yeild some more power.
I played around during the day with my tunes to see what the differences were, the results were interesting. First off, I left my trans settings the same during "tune" changes and all tunes had 100% factory TM intact. So my best run with an unmodified TTP timing and fuel table was 15.333@91.55 with (1) degree of KR from 5200-5800 in 2nd gear. I then loaded a stock timing and fuel tables and ran 15.505@90.8. So you can see there was a reduction in power.
All in all, most of my power gains from the unmodified TTP tune was in the leaning out of my air/fuel ratio, WOT shift points, and some timing. But I'm very happy I got a seat of HP tuners to perfect the fueling, timing, and trans settings. What a difference.
As a side note, most of the 60' times were close, so you can use the 1/4 mile times and mph as a measure of performance. The last run the air was slightly cooler, but there was still a good jump just from my adjustments.

Cool deal, glad that you're getting a nice feel for self tuning with the HP tuners. Yea, the air has been crappy here all week...working out in it finally caught up with me and my sinuses are totally screwed right now (got a killer headache, achy all over, and kinda dizzy too). With more O2 in the air and less H20, you might be able to go 15 flat or maybe even touch the 14's...along with more tweaking with HPtuners...seems like you're quickly getting a feel for it.
Glad to see that you're numbers went in the right direction

I did some more tuning today beacuse I was still seeing some KR at the higher rpm's. I finally go it dialed in, I think. My best at Island in awesome air was a 15.065@89.89. So I think with my latest tune I should pull a 14.7-14.8 there. We'll see in November.

Yep, the 14.88 was at E-town in November. The weather was the best I have ever seen. Everyone was fast that day. I guess this tuning experience just shows how worth while a real "driving" tune can be. But I have to say that TTP put the fueling very close and maybe my KR was coming from the bad air? Not really sure, but all seems well now.
