Default Cammed LQ9 breaks 403whp 411ftlbs.

Well took the truck back to the dyno with the temps way cooler 100 degrees last time vs 45 degrees this time. The only other changes were mild tuning for 91 octane and also redid my magnaflow 3.5inch exhaust. Last time it layed down 373whp and this time it did 30whp more and I think it would have been more if I made a few more passes. Here is the graph, it pulled a lil timing or something in the middle Im not sure but the tune is way mild. I also think I need new wires. These ones have 140k on them LOL. Enjoy

For comparison we dynod a buddies 2000 Silverado with a 5.3. Truck had a k@n intake and magnaflow muffler. It layed down a whooping 221whp 242ftlbs. So needless to say he was blown away by my numbers. LOL

1. The dyno pull was without nitrous correct?

2. Is your pacesetter exhaust the 1-3/4 primaries with 3" collectors?

3. And then you open your exhaust to a 3.5" after the y-pipe?

4. Stock 78mm gen III intake manifold?

No nitrous, stock 78mm mani/tb, 3.5in y back with 18in magnaflow 3.5in muffler side exit. Sounds amazing and really added alot of power over old 3in setup. These motors wanna breath no doubt. Next im gonna port a tbss mani myself paired to a ported 78mm tb, new msd wires(mine have 137k) and retune. Hoping for around 420whp 430ftlbs.

Thats awesome man.

So to be clear, its a 3 inch y-pipe, opened up to 3.5 after it correct?

If you go ported tbss intake, I think you should go with a 90mm tb to take full advantage of the intake, instead of just the ported 78mm tb.

I think the ported 78mm tb will work just fine. I cant justify spending another $400 for the 90mm tb, especially when 50% of the peeps out there have issues with our only solution for running the 90mm tb on our trucks. Id be glad to do back to back dyno runs of the ported 78mm tb vs the 90mm tb, if somebody has one laying around. Im willing to wager the gains are under 5whp. For $400-500 bucks that's not worth it in my opinion.

On the Y I just cut it back as close as I could to get a true 3.5 collector. Its probably not quite a 3.5 inch collector but very close and the truck really woke up with this setup. 403whp is pretty stout for my mods with a solid flat power band. Im positive there is more in it with no other internal changes. I wanna also try a 4in intake setup over the 3.6-3.7 the fipk is. The ebay intakes comes in several different sizes. 3.7, 3.8 and 4.0. Not sure why but Ill give the 4in one a try for only $60 bucks.

Appreciate the information on the y-pipe. I may consider doing the same to mine, just wish I wouldn't have already had the rest of my exhaust done with 3" piping, muffler, cutout, and electric cutout. Would be a lot to replace all of that now

;-)

As far as the intake goes, feel free to do anything you feel will give you more power.

But my guess would be, that with a stock 85mm MAF and a 78mm throttle body, there shouldn't be much of a gain from a 102mm (4") intake tube (unless you mean something else) naturally aspirated. With nitrous, who knows...

On the other hand, its cheap enough that I would do the same if I were you also.

Sig says TSP 220, that falls in line with my approach to cams. You can make more peak with a larger cam but look at the torque curve for that 220. That torque curve is what you need in a truck. Given the above intake and exhaust setup I would expect a 226/224 to work very well.

Thanks! My eyes just kinda skipped over that part of his signature, but I'm pretty sleep deprived
