Default 76mm cammed 370 RCSB hit the dyno

Once tune got sorted out and maf was calibrated well we made some pulls.

Only to find that we had KR at 4400rpm where I have seen it the last few days no matter what boost level and on a few different tunes.

We added torco octane booster and the kr went away. Scratched that one up to a bad tank of winter fuel.

6psi no meth and I believe 16 degrees of timing and now 97 octane the truck made

450 RWHP/ 510 rwftlbs.

So we upped the boost to 9psi.

And had KR at 5600 rpm.

Sprayed it with Meth. Still had that KR.

Nothing could get rid of it.

After doing some research we figure I'm floating my valves.

PAC 1215 single beehives have install load pressure of 105.

Tuner said that with a 226/232. 578/.587 cam and 10psi I should have a spring with a higher seat pressure. And that when I get stiffer springs we can keep going.

He also suggested making a race gas tune for the track this summer

Let me know your thoughts.

That octane booster stuff is probably crap FWIW. Get some real race gas and throw it in there instead. Or since you have meth use it. Thats a really good number for 6psi though, whats the compression on your engine?

I will never use a single beehive spring for FI engines.

Congrats man. It's been a long road. 450 is no joke for 6 psi

FWIW my 2002 5.3 212/218 cam at 6psi 16* made 405rwhp

OK so my numbers aren't that bad. We woulda gone further but the springs man...The springs! Haha I'm ordering Brian tooley dual springs and the rocker arm trunion upgrade and the LS spring tool tonight.

155 seat pressure good enough?

The compression is 10.8:1. LQ9 SPECS WITH 799heads.

We only used the octane booster to prove a bad tank of fuel atomic. Torco makes good octane booster apparently though. And I will carry a few bottles with me on road trips incase I can't find 94 octane.

I'm on the Meth now. And lowered the boost cause of the floating valves.

We was at 11.5 AFR for all this.

I still have a bunch of finicky things to tune. Truck has a bit of run off from idle. She'll get into second gear all on her own! And I went into limp mode this morning at wot. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw limp mode. TPS SENSOR HIGH VOLTAGE CEL.

New springs and more Meth and more boost before spring.

We noted that my flex fuel pump was dropping to 52psi from 58psi at the power level I'm at now.

Apparently the injectors sense this and will make up for the lack of pressure by just raise their duty cycle.

And also im not sure where I wanna go with the converter lock up. Geez is it ever a kick in the pants when the thing locks up. It locks up in 4th.

The injectors don't sense this, your PCM senses the lean condition so it adjusts injector duty cycle to attempt to richen the mixture up.

It will make better numbers, no doubt.

Be careful with that lockup in 4th!!!!

Thats not how injectors work. The duty cycle is a calculated number, based on time the injector is open, eg, 100% duty cycle means the injector is open 100% of the time. It is impossible to have it open more than this, so all these 100%+ injector duty cycles you see arent real, its just what the computer calculates is needed. At WOT with the factory pcm, there is no feedback to adjust fueling. The computer does what its told with no regard to what is happening.

If you are dropping pressure you need to upgrade the fuel pump, injectors, or both. Period.

Also unless you think hard about switching to e85 I would be skeptical about a lot of boost on that compression. Meth injection is good but at some point with high compression and boost you need to get on the corn.

I'd love to get on the corn. Unfortunately I live in Alberta which is one of the largest oil producing places in the world...can't see them pushing alternative fuel sources Lol. Canada just isn't on the corn wagon yet. At all. Literally there might be one e85 station in the whole country.

My IDC isn't that bad. Maybe 60% at the moment?

I could really do with an egt gauge because aside from watching for knock... when we turn up the boost and timing and Meth someday I'm not gonna know what else to look for in regards to blowing this thing up.

When would you guys lock up your converter? Mine is locking up under daily driving in 4th. Not sure what the purpose of it all is.
