Holy crap, you have to be kidding. I could not see any evidence of 3 groves. Damn I hate to take it apart again.

I will measure the groves

Measured the new and old C-clips at 3.83mm, or 0.151" or 5/32"

The old worn C-clips measured:
3.74mm or 9/64"
3.65mm or 9/64"

10/64" new with 2/64" difference added together or 1/32" total wear.

.151" new
.143" wear
.151" new
.146" wear

Sure doesn't seem like enough play to rub the gear into the case ??

Here were my bad side and worse side. I think the most important thing is the new clips. If the clips are holding the gear away, it really shouldnt be scraping the housing.

Looks great when cleaned up.

I am trying to decide if I should open mine back up and cut 2 more oil valley's on the side that only has 1 ? It didn't seem to wear any worse than yours.

Well I put mine together with intentions of only running it until I got the 14 bolt in. Well here I am 2k miles later. And they arent easy miles. Every time I have it out I do an 80 MPH burnout.

Yeah it has to be taken apart to see the wear. Just run it till it drops out...haha.

Mine going back together this weekend. I just got the shims last night. I bought some nice steel ones in a kit. No more GM cast shims for me.

Thanks man.
I haven't run since Nov 2011, beside trying to work out shifting issues with the tune. I went to MIR (Maryland) for some good air and ran 5 new best times of 11.16, 11.16, 11.15, 11.15 & 11.14. Since then, Over the last few months I have added 16" Bogarts, new rubber, had the tranny rebuilt, added new TSP Headers, Vette coil pacs/wires, rewired most under hood connections, added a 102mmMaf, retuned and now the diff went out. Also had to repaint the roof from a tree branch falling on it.

I now have the tranny running a 9" - SS3600 Yank Stall instead of the 10.5" Pro Series 3600 previously. That should free up a little power. I still need to get my 2-3 shift adjusted (short shifting around 5200 rpm). Will get back to the track when it cools down some.
