Tru Trac, 10 bolt diff advice
5 Attachment(s)
I need advice on my Tru Trac guys. It went out a block from my house. I heard something pop, then a louder than the motor whine from the diff. I yanked it all out and found my drivers side shim broke into 4 pieces. Everything else seems ok except some odd slag build up on the inside of the case (maybe from the shim going out) ? Does anyone have any idea how my shim could break ? The top cap bolt was not very tight (but not loose either).

Only thing I know that would help would be the Moser carrier studs and girdle cover.

Yea, I hope I don't have any problems with mine once it goes in!

Are the auburn units better? Right now my truck is one tire fire and I'm looking to upgrade and do 4.10s soon but not sure what to run!

that shim breaking is strange, what was your case pre load? did you have one hell of a time pounding that shim in? |
My vote is a 12 Bolt or 9" with a full spool and 4.30's. Make that truck break into the 10's.

I wonder why the damn shim would break. Are you going to throw the tru trac back in? |
Iv never seen a shim break and to break in almost even parts like that. Very weird.
