!st time at the track since the new heads, cam, and converter. My times were worse than last year.
My tires were spinning BIG time. I can't do a burnout in the box because of being AWD. So what can I do to prevent or lessen the spin. I'm running my stock 20's.
What do you think? Any advice would be appreciated.

go around the water box and try some tire prep .... vht or something along those lines....

 

VHT will CERTAINLY help in the "sticky" dept.

 

You should still be able to do a burnout. Lower the front and put limiters in the front.

 

What he said. Also, you can drive through the water and pull forward a few. Then you can power out of it to clean the tires even if you don't get to do a full burnout. Don't forget to drop the tire pressure at the track. I think maybe I was running 22-24 back and maybe 26-28 front with my factory 20's when I ran my best time.

 

whats your 60 ft?

drag radials on all four is what i did . also along with caltracs and front limiters. im still not cutting a great 60ft but traction isnt an issue.

My 60' is just over 2 seconds.
I lowered tire pressure to 23lbs all around and gave it a good stomp to clean the tires after the water box. The tires wouldn't break free.
I don't think I have enough room to drive around the water box. Would the VHT wash off once I went through the water?
The front is lowered but maybe some limiters and drag radials in the future. Where is a good place for drag radials?

 

There are alot of SSS trucks in the 1.6 range in 60's. Trust me, take some advice from these guys and you'll get it out of the hole.

 

That's why I posted. I am clueless on this stuff. I didn't even know what caltracs were until I just googled it.This looks like I am going to spend another $1000 AT LEAST just for traction.
