I have wanted to try the straps for a while but I'm still rocking the chains. I have mine set so they pre load the front suspension by about 1/4 inch when chained down. It has completely gotten rid of any lift and the hop. I don't think shocks will do what you need on your truck. You will probably gain more from straps that will actually pre load the front a little. I couldn't believe how smooth my truck felt launching at 12psi with the chains and et streets. 1.45 60' feels awesome in these big trucks. LOL

1.45!!! I didn't even know that was possible in a 4x4 ext cab. Preloading the chains/straps does help A LOT. My truck rode like crap with my chains tight, but it did launch nice...

No bud I haven't read up on that . But I should

With cranked keys my dmax went thru 4 tie rods , after the lift I made sure I kept the front angles flat , and it launches nice now.

My black truck launches awesome for crappy shocks and no straps , my cv angles are straight to slightly angled down , so when I launch they don't angle up too bad , and I 1.6 consistently , I'm going to do straps as I hear they really help like others have said .

Try de cranking a bit and see if it helps , then try the limiting straps , I bet between those two things your launch will be better.

Also one other thought , have you tried to use stock size tires just for comparison ?

Your making good power and seeing the problems that come along with it LOL !

I assure you 1.45 is possible. The last time I was at the track I had 8 runs at 1.50 or lower. Pre loading mine made a huge difference. If I give it even an inch of travel it would start to hop around. It was holding 10psi launches all day. I tried one 12+psi launch and it started hopping the front left tire. LOL
