Wow! How different is the 71 from the 68 280s? A friend has one of those and I keep trying to talk him into an LS swap and your car might be the inspiration.

 

from late 69/early 70 to late 73 the turn signals were part of the front fenders and lower valance. tails and tail light housing was different as well. the 260-280's got the big "safety" bumpers and turn signals mounted above the front bumper in the grill.

 

the boost was at 22 psi. the 69-73 ish cars are 240s then the 260s and then the 280s. older cars are the lightest.
