Besides "throw that pos in the garbage and get a real locker" what are the tricks to getting a good burnout with a g80 in a 2wd truck. Mine kept unlocking making me gun shy on the throttle in the water box, barely got smoke off the tires and then went skipping down the track with cold tires as a result. Any tricks?
I am only going to hit the track one more time this year and I don't have the time/energy to install a good unit.

If its locking and unlocking at speed,,, its gonna die..
My buddys did that for awhile and it didnt take long before it stripped the gears and splines on the counter weight. and then it clunked hard and broke the carrier..
Trutrac took care of all that

You will eat the teeth of the gear that drives the locking plate if you are lucky and be perma open like I have done on my 10 bolt units...... Or the carrier comes apart and puts parts through the rear cover.
There is no trick beyond staying at below 20 mph on a burnout..... good luck with that, lol.

That's the best advice you will ever get.

That's kind of what I figured but I guess we will see if it holds up to one more torture. I was using the low and slow approach but as boost builds I let off-it unlocks-let's out the clunk heard round the world-I go racing hoping it will last long enough to not need a flatbed to get it home...
What if I try slow for awhile and then when I feel it starting to drag I do a gorilla stomp and shoot damn near up to the line? Or, maybe do a quick spin in the water to get the gravel off, while they are wet come out to the tarmac and then light them up where there is more grip to keep it from unlocking?
How much is a truetrac again

As someone said make sure either both get wet or both dry. Do not keep on the throttle if it unlocks though. They are designed to unlock past 20mph, but under heavy inertia they will stay locked. Once this starts happening though you will find it to eventually quit locking. My 06' was having issue's at the track with less than 10k on the ticker so I retired it and put it in the Tahoe where it was being used for what it was actually designed for. The diff is great when you use it for what they built it for, just not performance. I put a Detroit Locker in the 06' and the Gov-Lock is now finally failing to lock in the Tahoe since the 408 has been put in.
