Mines 4wd not awd. I usually did the same, tow haul and race in 3rd. I raced in 2wd til I got my converter and started to get some wheel slip, then switched over to 4hi and it just hooks

What gear ratio are you running? I have 3:42's. I know long tubes aren't making that big of a difference to have our times so far apart. I'm starting to wonder about my tune.
