if nothing esle i think i can preload it so if the fronts are on the ground they will be on the ground equaly instead of one geting real light and spining.

Caltracs won't make a tire hook any better unless that tire/setup has the ability to do take advantage of them. I don't see stock tires & Caltracs doing that for you. Enter a sticky tire (i.e. drag radial)........now you can take advantage of the Caltrac (or at least more so)...........the only thing caltracs help with, for me, on a street tire is wheel hop, I can break the tires loose at will, with or without the traction device. at the track, using M&H cheater slicks I have Zero spin and dead hook.
Let's say you have a sticky rear tire then, and use the caltracs, and you realize that weight transfer, what happens when the front drive wheels hook up? will it have an effect on which way your truck is pointed?
Maybe there is a negligable effect....I am not AWD savvy when it comes to track prep, but I do think there are some possible safety issues that could arrise from this.
Have you talked to Calvert? what do they say about using caltracs in a 4wd setup?

i run nittos.

i get some brutal wheel hop sometimes. i am amazed nothing has come apart yet.

i too question if a traction device will help and that is why i waited so long to mess with it but the sy/ty guys swear by caltracs. if nothing else i hope it will keep it from wheel hoping and keep close to equal weight on the front wheels. those 2 things should help me out.

there is nothing safe about my truck.

I have seen that they like the caltracs alot so they must work for them.....any of those guys putting down the power you are?

Who know's, maybe it runs better, I would just recommend you proceed with caution................lot's of cause and effect things could start happening as I know your well aware. If all they do is eliminate wheel hop and with the weight reductions that may be all thats needed.

I think leaving the sway bar off will help more than any of the other things mentioned. I'm betting this week is the week. G/L

At least you know that!
Good luck. But I don't think you'll need it this time.

Throwing the weight on to the back tires as much as possible is great with sticky tires. I was leaning torwards keeping the weight on the front because 2 Nittos on the back with 80% of the weight on them isn't going to hold 1000+hp. Hell they won't hold 400 hp on a car. The good thing now that you have the caltracs is you can run it in 2wd with some stickies on the back for the track and 4wd for the street races.
