Anybody that can determine that a mod is/isn't worth a ten thousanth of a second is on crack. I'm gonna venture a guess and say this statement even applys to Greg Anderson. I'm just saying...

I understand the point of this post but with most small changes there is enough evidence to give you a good idea what makes a noticeable difference by it's self and what doesn't. I would consider .1 "noticeable" on a time slip and am confident that gate on vs. gate off is much less then .1 on its own. If traction is an issue(doesn't seem in this case) it may loose you much more then it could ever gain you in weight reduction.

I have personally done gate on vs. gate off on the same night with no difference in time slips. Many other people have done the same and I have not seen one person with a solid improvement or anything measurable.

The impression I am getting from the OP is he feels that he was way behind the eight ball by having his gate on this time. Thus skewing the results that his converter/shorter tires actually gained more then shown.

Ok, your making a little more sense now...

I did the the tailgate on and then completely off one night as well and it actually slowed down with it off. Not traction limited, '85 scsb 1/2 ton with a 454 that was my daily driver at the time. Ran consistant 13.40's

For reference my buddies 2wd 6.2 went 13.9 bogging out the hole with Kooks 1-7/8 catless and a magnaflow race muffler on stock tires. Then with a yank ss3600 and some 295/45/17 mickeys it went 13.25 spinning with 1.9x 60'. Stock air intake, tune only adjusted for stall and AFR, stock timing and stock weight.

Impressive times. It's basically as fast as my truck is with the cam before the converter. I would hope for more than 4 tenths out of a converter, but that is a really mild set up. How does it drive compared to stock?
