Default 12 seconds?...

hey guys i have some work done to my truck and lots of plans for the future. i have an 06 extended cab sierra5.3 l59. right now i have shorty headers, cold air intake and cat back exhuast. in the garage is tt3000 converter, hd2 shift kit, servos and accum. piston, and im waiting on my nelson pcm. after this im gonna switch to long tube headers, headwork on 706 heads and a cam. my question is how likely am i to get into the 12's? im in southern california, close to sea level, stock wheels and tires and the only weight reduction will be spare and tailgate removal. if theres anything to help get me there any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Supercharger, turbo or N2O.
There are not too many NA 12 second ECSB trucks running 12's.

Add to your list:
Full true duel exhaust
Underdrive pulleys
Drag radials/slicks smaller tires
Posi/LSD
Traction devices
Full lightening
etc

i have factory 3.73 w/ posi and locker. who makes underdrive pulleys? id like to get close if possible. how close do you think i can get. if i cant hit 12's ill spray. what can i expect from a 100 shot, and is that too much with stock internals (will have built heads)? never had a vehicle with power before so im going nuts with all the choices. id love to go forced induction and probably will in the future, but too much money for me to spend right now. thanks for the advice.

Not trying to sound like an *** but have you even been to the track and set some baseline times yet?
Get out there and you'll understand how much of an accomplshment breaking 12's is. You can do it but it will require some hard work and some $$ and some time.

i have never been to the track. im not looking to do this overnight. im expecting it to take a couple of years with the money and time and stuff i want to put into it. i do understand the the hard work that goes into this kind of stuff but like i said ive never owned a vehicle with this potential so im excited as you can imagine. and i want to do it the right way and clean so im just looking for feedback and stuff. and when you tell me its probably not gonna happen, me running 12' n/a, thats okay, i dont want to get my hopes up. im gonna look into the stuff you recommended and ill probably use a little nitrous to hold me over untill i can afford some forced induction. i appreciate your advice.

Getting into the 12's at any So Cal track with an NA 5.3l means your going to have to take a no prisoners attitude and rethink the truck from bumper to bumper. Yes it can be done, but it's going to require an entire truck package not just throwing a big hp engine, converter and gears at it. It'll require some weight reduction (especially in the front end) and most importantly suspension control which leads to maximum traction. Especially in the all critical launch. Now accomplish this on our "91" octane gas and your making a serious statement. I'd LOVE to see this happen and I believe it will soon enough. Good luck with your mods and please keep us posted on your results.

Best of luck,

Richard

thanks for the support. id love to do it. i dont know how serious im gonna get with the 5.3. id like to do a turbo later on possibly twin turbo, and if i do that id rather do it in a 6.0 cast block, build it from block up...you know how it goes. so untill then i think the farthest im gonna go is the converter, heads, cam, and maybe nitrous. and youre the one i need to talk to (richard) so ive been told as far as heads for my 5.3. im not ready yet, but im trying to read up on all this stuff. ill send you a pm with my details. thanks
