yeah really, they were slooow. even worse was a slant 6...an '82 with a 225 slant six was my first truck, lucky it had a manual but damn it was gutless. after i straight piped it, removed emissions garbage and put a two barrel carb on it could finally maintain the speed limit up hills in top gear, no overdrive. somehow i still managed to get my first speeding ticket in it though

 

The 318 ran a 19.3 @ 67 mph I think ....got 2 less mpgs then the ls1 setup
