Generally I go with the one that gets air low in the engine bay and is shielded it from engine heat.

I've had an AirAid CAI (open cone filter with heat shield, kept Hemi Hat), an AirAid MIT (tube that replaces Hemi Hat but uses stock airbox) and a Volant CAI. Didn't feel much with any of them but never had them dynoed. Then I got an Outlaw CAI and I could feel a SOTP difference after running the stock intake for a while. The airbox looks like a Volant clone but unlike Volant, Outlaw replaces the Hemi Hat with a smooth tube, Volant keeps the Hemi Hat. I like it, it's not loud under part acceleration and has a nice mellow growl under WOT. I bought is off of Ebay, about $100 cheaper than a Volant also.

You can look into my Gallery for ideas for a HomeDepot intake.... the last generation was worth 3 tenths. ( No it did not give me 30 HP but it did not slow down due to heat soak! ).

be sure to look at all of the pages there as there are more than one intake there...
