New 5.7l in the old ram.

I had a 440 in it....Only ran a 15.7 @ 84 mph with headers intaker, performer carb.
I was getting 8mpg's with it and it always seemed to seep oil, have starting issues, and was overall a dissapointment.
To keep it fair I'm going to gateway internation raceway after the motor is running to see how the 1/4 times compare to the 440's with headers and intake alone on the ls1, but don't get your hopes up I've seem the 5.3 chevy trucks run 13's with just bolt-ons.
Alot of people have been saying the ls1 cannot compare to the 440 in low end power, but the fact that it will be nearly 500lbs lighter will most likely make up for the lack of low end. And if it is lagging down low I'll put in a 2800 yank and still get better mpgs then what the 440 ever did.
The 440 was the king of its time, but I do not live in the past and now there are better motors out there that create both power and mpg's.
If I really wanted a 440 again I can get an lsx block and have the correct bore x stroke to get a 440cu.in. motor in a smallblock thats several hundred #'s lighter with a better head/cam design.
Fuel injection is another reason I made the swap, If you try and find a good aftermarket kit for the 440 your looking at $1,000-$2,000 depending on brand and quality.
LSX is where its at now days

Anyone notice the brak booster in the above pics?.....I have a oem cast iron booster that always felt like it was under stress, I have a parts car camaro(1998 z28) so I pulled the booster off of it and flared some adaptor lines, trucks stops alot better with the camaro booster being 7 lbs lighter.
