Default 5.9 Help

I am joining the dark side and getting my uncles 99 ram 4x4 with a 5.9. I was just wondering if they are they same as the new body style 5.9 motors? Im pretty sure that thay are the same motors as the R/T Dakotas. I really need some help Because I know NOTHING about dodge trucks. I barely know anything about chevys..... but thanks to this site i know something.

The 5.9s ( new generation ) are pretty much the same across the board... Lots of mods available for them...

All of the magnum 360's (5.9L) are the same, maybe some small PCM program changes but the actual engines are the same and there are TONS of aftermarket parts available. If your intrested i can point you to some vendors with good prices.

Yeah LIVEDAKOTA that would be cool.... I need to sell my chevy BAD because as soon as I do I am going to pick up my 99 ram 4x4 5.9 on a 3" suspension lift on 305 buckshots. ahhhh I need to get rid of this thing. By the way you have some BAAAD looking cars in your sig.

The biggest difference is with the Magnum 5.9L you can only get a handheld tuner for the 1998-2002. You can get a Mopar chip for the earlier PCM though, it's actually a better performance chip but no adjustability.

Thanks for the compliment. Believe it or not the truck is the faster one lol.

For the PCM you can also get a custom Flashed PCM. It is a little more than a handheld tuner but is much better for performance.

When i get home i'll dig up the links for you to check out some vendor's parts.

Are there any speed secrets to making the 5.9's run hard? I have seen some really bad R/T's and I just wanna know what the easiest way to make the 5.9 wake up.

Southeastperformance

SocalDakota

KRC Performance

Those are 3 of the more popular vendors for dakota and ram parts. Just how much do you want to wake it up? You can make it as bad as you want, all you need is money. Since its a 4x4, if you use it for off-roading or things of that nature remember when u start modding that you'll want to shoot more for TQ than HP.
