Default Just bought a 06 Cummins!

Wondering what size exhaust comes on these stock? If i cut ONLY the muffler off would it throw a SES code? What are some good cheap mods to help mileage and power. Also which is better bully dog, banks, or edge???
Thanks,
Derek

I believe the 06+ has 4" exhaust from the turbo back.. I dont think taking the muffler out would throw a code.. There are no cheap mods for these trucks unless you can fab up a air intake or the intake horn.. Everything is $$$$$$ lol.. For a programmer check out Smarty..

DO NOT DO NAY BANKS PROGRAMMERS do bullydog edge or the best imo smarty. you can cut everything out of your exhaust and it will throw no codes it will help your mileage and an intake will help alot to just dont do a k&N they are very expensive and the oiled filters arent good for our motors hope this helps check out the cumminsforum.com

Default Im already on there

im virgils59 on cumminsforum. PP got some rigs on there! I dont see why they mod them so much. It always seems to lead to probs with thier trucks. I mean they seem to lose dependability. all i have is a superchips, 4in ex, s&b cai, wheels and tires. thats all im doin. im not gonna void the 60000 mile remainder of my power train warr!! You mess up a diesel, you are out some change!!

No cat and 2x" magnaflow dumped, no SES here. Virgils4.8, do you like your s&b setup?

Definitely Smarty for programmer, and I've heard a CAI doesn't do much until you're closer to 500 hp. I say just get a drop-in filter like S&B or something and a Smarty, and do something with your exhaust, you'll love it! I would get a CAI just so it looks neater...

I ran straight 4" exhaust on my 06 5.9 and it did well. Never threw any codes.

IMO, 4" for an auto or 5" for std.
aem brute force intake(it comes with a dryflow filter)
smarty with TNT tune on level 7.

kicked *** and averaged 24mpg on an 8 hour trip with 4 adults and their luggage doing 70+mph. and we smoked out a few ricers along the way
