i have an 84 shortbed with a 305/350th & will be swapping to a 5.3/4l60e what motor mount plates can i use to keep the original driveshaft. i'm thinking i need the plates to set the motor back 1". Also i'm sending out my pcm to get programmed now i know i need to get the vats and rear O2 sensors removed is it anything else besides that and the tire and gear ratio size. The engine is out of a 04 suburban

I believe I have the plates that set the engine back by 1". That should work. Someone that has actually done it would know better than I though.

There are a number of places/people that sell what you're looking for. BRP is where I bought mine from, but I mounted my motor forward. In any case, you can mount the 5.3/4L6xE combo to sit close to the firewall, and still use the stock shaft.... BUT.... you'll want to have that shaft checked to make sure it's still balanced, and can handle what you're planning in the LONG run.

BTW... I (as well as a few others) have a build thread here with pics & all.

'86 Silvy (C10) - 5.3/4L65E - 4.10 w/ posi - Wheatley tuned..... now SOLD!

Good luck!

you will also want to remove any emissions from the tune unless you plan on reusing it.
